Michelle & Willow Tree Counselling
I am Michelle Reid, founder of Willow Tree Counselling. I qualified with a Diploma in Humanistic (Person Centred) Counselling in 2013 and I am an Accredited Registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy)
My Approach
I work mainly in a Person-Centred approach, providing core conditions such as empathy, unconditional positive regard and congruence, that I believe are key to successful therapy. I see counselling as a way to give hope, gain the ability to let go of the pains of the past and find new ways of healing.
The Willow Tree can be seen as a symbol of stability, hope and healing, I believe this also to be the case of therapy. With the right conditions, it can be possible for painful experiences to be explored, challenged and processed, allowing you, much like a Willow Tree, to grow new and stronger roots for moving forward in your lives. A Willow Branch can be planted in the ground and from it, a new tree will grow in its place. Its ability to grow and survive is powerfully symbolic and shows how we can thrive even in challenging conditions.
We think we listen, but very rarely do we listen with real understanding, true empathy. Yet listening, of this very special kind, is one of the most potent forces for change that I know.

Tackling life's troubles, together
There are times when life’s troubles can become overwhelming or you find yourself battling events that have happened in your past. At times like this it can be helpful to reach out to a safe and welcoming environment where you can explore these and feel contained.
How is therapy delivered?
I currently offer sessions face to face, over the telephone, online or Walk & Talk Therapy. All sessions are between 50 - 60 minutes in length and can be accommodated during the daytimes with some availability during the evenings.
Remote
Ideal for those unable to attend a Face to Face or Walk & Talk session.
Face to Face
Face to face counselling is hugely beneficial if you are able to travel.
Walk & Talk
Let's chat outdoors along woodland trails, surrounded by mother nature.
